After the release of "Singles of The 90's" Compilation in the fall of 1999 across the world except in America, American label Arista Records has had finalized their "Cruel Summer" promotional period with the single "Whenever You're Near Me" not charting well in the USA a years earlier Arista set out to release what till this day is Ace of Base final release in America. "Greatest Hits" is the title of the Compilation released on April 18th 2000 all across America. The release complied 10 song and 2 full length remixes of "Beautiful Life" & "Lucky Love" of the 10 songs compiled were included "Life Is Flower" & "C'est La Vie (Always 21)" which never had been released as singles to the American market yet the compilation did not include the well charted single of "Living In Danger" and excluded the singles "Never Gonna Say I'm Sorry" & "Whenever You're Near Me" possibly for failure to perform well on American charts. The Compilation included "C'est La Vie (Always 21)" which was the lead single release of "Singles Of The 90's" 4 months earlier before the release of "Greatest Hits" excluding the other 2 new songs of "Love In December" & "Hallo, Hallo". Many fans really liked to the photography work of "Greatest Hits with had Malin (Linn) Berggren on the front once again since thr singer had taken a secondary role with the band, Other fans complained of the low quality of the main cover Art and of course many were very disappointed at the terrible job Arista did in compiling the songs. The Compilation included a remix of "Everytime It Rains" to be the lead promotional single release for the Album, a Promo disc and a 2 X 12'' Promo vinyl's were released but nothing for a commercial single. by Ritchie Stubbs
